GROUP 1,2,3,4 EXAMS
Group 1:
supreme executive powers with very hifh decision making power
eg: IAS, IPS, state govt services(RDO), magistrate etc
It includes higher positions under State Govt. Includes positions like Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner, District Registrar, Assistant Director of Rural Development Department, Divisional Officer in the Fire and Rescue Services Department.
Group 2:
eg: Tashildar, lecturers in govt. college, junior doctors etc
It includes lower positions under State Govt. The positions include Assistant Commercial Tax Officer, Sub-Registrar Grade –II , Municipal Commissioner, Grade-II, Assistant Section Officer in TNPSC, Junior Employment Officer, Assistant Section Officer.
Group 3:
semi-skilled with almost no or little decision making authority
eg of such posts: Clerk , Typist, Income tax inspector, tax assistant etc
It includes posts like Sterno Typist,Security Staff.
Group 4:
manual workers like peon, driver etc
State public service commission conducts exam for all groups-1,2,3,4
but UPSC conducts exam for group 1 and 2 respectively
the scheme of the exams differ from one another
It includes positions like Junior Assistant (Non Security), Typist.
